“Id Data Does Not Match Your Account Name”: What to Do

This message appears when the name on the ID you submitted does not match the name on your Snapiro account. Your account name comes from your verified BVN, so in practice the ID and your BVN must carry the same name.

Common causes

  • You used a different ID from the one your bank has on record, for example an old passport with a maiden name.
  • The ID number was typed incorrectly, so it pulled up someone else’s record or none at all.
  • Your BVN record and your ID have different spellings, for example “Mohammed” and “Muhammad”.
  • The ID belongs to another person.

What to try

  1. Check the ID number carefully and submit again.
  2. Try a different ID type. If your NIN does not match, your international passport or driver’s licence might.
  3. Compare the name on your ID with your account name under Settings, View Profile, Profile. The order of first and last name does not matter, but the spelling does.

If your BVN name is wrong

Snapiro uses the name your bank holds. If that name is misspelt or out of date, it has to be corrected with your bank. After your bank updates it, contact us so we can help you re-check your account.

Each account must belong to one real person. Using someone else’s ID is not allowed and can lead to the account being restricted.
