Snapiro only pays naira into bank accounts that belong to you. When you add a bank account or withdraw, we compare the account name with the name on your verified BVN. If they do not match, you will see Bank account’s name must match your BVN verified name.
How the check works
We ignore capital letters, hyphens and punctuation, and look for at least two of your names in the bank account name. For example, a BVN name of “Adaeze Grace Okafor” matches an account named “OKAFOR ADAEZE” or “Okafor-Adaeze G.”
Why it might fail
- The account belongs to someone else, such as a family member or a business.
- The account uses a different surname, for example a maiden name.
- The account number was mistyped, so it found a different person’s account.
- The account is a business or joint account whose name does not include yours.
What to do
- Check the account number and try again.
- Use a personal account opened with the same BVN.
- If your bank account name is out of date, ask your bank to update it.
This rule protects you. If someone gets into your account, they cannot send your money to their own bank.
