How Is the Crypto Sell Rate Calculated?

When you sell, Snapiro works out your naira in two parts: the dollar value of your coins, and the naira rate per dollar.

1. Dollar value

We take the current market price of the coin in US dollars. Stablecoins such as USDT are counted at $1 each. For other coins, such as Bitcoin, the price follows the market and changes every few seconds.

2. Naira per dollar

The sell screen shows Rate as naira per dollar, for example ₦1,450/$. This is the rate Snapiro pays and it includes our margin. There is no extra fee on top.

Example

If the rate shows ₦1,450/$:

  • Selling 100 USDT gives 100 × ₦1,450 = ₦145,000.
  • Selling 0.001 BTC when Bitcoin is $60,000 gives $60 × ₦1,450 = ₦87,000.

These numbers are only examples. Always check the rate in the app before you confirm.

Why the amount changes

Crypto prices and the naira rate move all the time. The amount you see is updated as you type, and the price is fixed at the moment you confirm with your PIN.
