Bitcoin addresses do not all look the same. Some start with 1, some with 3, and newer ones start with bc1. If you are in Enugu and about to sell BTC, it is worth knowing why, so an unfamiliar address does not worry you.
Bitcoin address types
- Starts with 1: the original (legacy) format.
- Starts with 3: a format often used for older SegWit and multi-signature wallets.
- Starts with bc1: native SegWit or Taproot, which usually means lower fees.
All of them are Bitcoin addresses on the Bitcoin network. Modern wallets and exchanges can send to every type.
Copy, do not type
Always copy the BTC address from your Snapiro app and paste it. Never type it by hand. Once your deposit confirms, check the naira amount and accept it, then withdraw or pay EEDC from your balance.
